Check if they are in good condition

First things first, give your pearls a real quick inspection. Once you confirm it is in good condition, you can continue to clean it. For bracelets and necklaces, check the following; they should not be stretched, and their clasp is opening and closing properly. Please do this by looking closely at the silk strands on which they are threaded. For earrings, ensure that they are well attached to the posts.

The second step is dipping a cloth into soapy water until it is damp

If you use detergent, put a few drops into the lukewarm water and mix it. Go ahead and dip a clean cloth into the lukewarm water and gently wipe the pearls. Two important things to note in this step are; to avoid dipping the pearls into the water and second is to avoid too hot or too cold water.

Use a clean piece of cloth to wipe the pearls

Dampen the second cloth now into freshwater, then go ahead and wipe off the pearls. This is done to remove any remaining soap.

Air-dry the Pearls

Now that the pearl is clean, place it on a clean, soft towel to allow it to air-dry well. Drying them before storage helps to keep the silk thread elastic.
