Welcome to Nazar's & co. Jewelers!

With its orange-pink color, Morganite gemstone is second-most famous after the sapphire gem. It is used in engagement rings today. Morganite can collect soaps and oils if not cleaned. They should be cleaned regularly to maintain their beauty and preserve life.

Consistent home cleanings with warm water are very effective and will make the morganite stay shiny.

Steps for Effective Cleaning

When cleaning a morganite gem at home, you will need a soft brush, a  large bowl with warm water, soap, and a blow dryer.

  1. Soak in warm water for a few minutes. Ensure the water is lukewarm, as hot water can damage the gem.
  2. Brush gently for 2-5 minutes, concentrating more under the stone to remove all the dirt.
  3. Rinse properly with clean water.
  4. Shake off excess water.
  5. Blowdry. You can blow dry on low heat to remove any moisture or dry it in a clean paper towel. When dry, a clean morganite should be clear, sparkly, and not cloudy.

If you are unsure how to clean your morganite, you should take it to professional jewelers and have them clean it. The jeweler can use ultrasonic and steam cleaners for the best result.

Caring For Morganite

Morganite should be cleaned regularly to avoid dirt build-up. Due to its shiny colors, it collects dirt quickly and becomes permanently cloudy if not routinely cleaned.

Morganite should also be cleaned gently to avoid damaging the gem. You should not wear your morganite ring when doing house chores, as some cleaning chemicals can damage the quality of the gemstone.

To avoid getting your gem cloudy, remove your morganite when applying lotion. Lotion prevents light from getting under the stone, hence losing the spark.

Storing Your Gem

When your gem is clean, and you are not wearing it, store it in a cold, clean, safe place. Do not store the morganite in direct sunlight or prolonged heat.

You should have your morganite cleaned annually by a professional you can trust. Nazars and Co have the needed experience of dealing with unique gems and will restore the spark in your morganite. With proper maintenance and cleaning, morganite can last up to 20 years.

I have tried cleaning my morganite stones ring but the stone dullness persists. Could a jeweler do something more in order to restore its clarity?
